Weekly Update #7

Hi folks!

This week, I found myself missing the assembly and painting of Salamanders already. So I've been working on a couple of small units to expand my choices a bit so that I'm not playing the same 1500pt list week in week out.

Coincidentally, my brother found a whole pile of unfinished Space Marine stuff from an army he wanted to start last year. He has since moved on to the forces of Chaos, so he handed them over to me. I have gained 20 Assault Marines (4 built, rest on sprue, half without jump packs), 2 Rhinos, 5 unbuilt Scouts and about 3 Tactical Squads (one still on sprue). A few minis need stripped, but that won't be a problem. Adding that to my current force leaves me just 2 Tactical Squads, 2 Devastator Squads and a Command Squad short of a full-strength Salamanders Battle Company. Of course, as soon as I realised this I couldn't shake the thought, so now the Steel Legion are shelved as I get to work on this latest goal. The IG will be my summer project.

Having a full Battle Company will not only give me plenty of options, but also bring my Sallies up to Apocalypse level like my IG. For now, they'll be footslogging since buying enough Rhinos just isn't an option (even without the FW doors which I simply *must* give them).

I'll sell some old stuff to raise the extra funds required to get the squads I need - since this was slightly unexpected I haven't made allowances for it in my budget.

So that's how things have been going this week. I think I'll put together a list of how I want the company to be equipped and post that up later this week, as well as pictures of the extras I've been working on.

Have any of you guys found that you just can't quite call an army "finished", even when you have other projects in the pipeline?

I can quite say that an army never really feels finished, epecially for people just starting out, as their painting gets better as they go along they feel they need to go back and re-paoint the first few squads that were not painted to such a high standard

It'll be nice to own an entire company, just don't aspire to an entire chapter... just don't

Hmmm.. whole chapter... I'm going for a battle company too with rhino's as i've done 5 already. Nothing sweeter however they will never be 'finished'!

@ Peter: Rest assured I WILL NEVER be going for a whole chapter. I think that even if my budget could eventually support it, I'd have no room to store them and take years to paint them!

@ Siph: You too? Good luck! :)
