Disaster
Hi folks!
Feeling pretty bummed out right now as last week it has come to my attention that a large package I sent out to an ebay buyer a few weeks ago has gone missing, worth about £90. I've refunded him and will make a claim with the Post Office which should get me £40 compensation, but unless it eventually turns up I'm £50 down.
That's put a huge dent in my Babylon 5 project since I was planning to place a large order this month. I'm going to have to postpone it for a month and pray that the ships I want are still in stock by then.
All this has had a knock-on effect and I can't bring myself to even pick up a paintbrush at the moment. I did paint a few ships before the weekend though, so I'll probably post them up sometime, and I'm still "in the zone" for Homeworld stuff.
Anyway, I hope everyone else has had better luck than me this weekend!

Shipping is always as issue since you do not want to pay to much but for big packages delivery confirmation and full insurance can be helpful sometimes.
I once had a Nurgle blood bowl team shipped to me from an ebay purchase. I had confirmation notice and it said it was recieved but I had not gotten it.
So I went to the post office and complained. Luckily my post man was there at the time so I could talk to him directly. I think he might have missed delivered it and was able to get it back since most people are not actually interested in little metal figures. So I get it like a day or two later. Now if it had been something like an Ipod or dvd's I am sure I would have never seen it.
That's one of my biggest worries, that I'll ship something to a client and they'll never get their stuff.
I insure stuff but that only does so much.
Brutal. Nothing sucks motivation out off a project like losing a package. Sorry for the loss...as for me...it's never about the money...but about the loss of all the work and effor that went in to the models.
You can insure for the value...yeah. But what about the love and passion? :( Hope things pick up again for you!
Well unfortunately full insurance was offered but the buyer didn't pay for it. I think in future I'll make it mandatory for such large packages.
Anyway, I'm sure a nice, big crate of beer will restore my motivation. ;)
That's a bummer, I've had a number of issues over the years shipping ebay-sold packages as well. These days I send everything insured, priority mail with both delivery AND signature confirmation as mandatory, and denote the costs and explanation in the listings. It's a bit more expensive, but it has subsequently brought my number of 'missing packages' down to zero for the last four years. (Well there was one genius who thought he'd pretend he never got the package, even though I had a copy of his signature... suffice it to say that brilliant ploy failed him.)
I feel your pain though - more often than not it's the loss of time and effort that is felt more strongly than recouping the costs.
...A beer always helps, too!
